SeaChange debuts new IP-based VOD system

SeaChange's IP Video System includes Axiom, consisting of specialized software and a new series of memory-based video servers.

Representing the next generation in VOD server systems, SeaChange International introduced a new video delivery platform that supports a wider selection of advanced video applications for cable operators and telcos. Leveraging the advantages of IP technologies, which both the cable and telco industries are beginning to embrace, the new IP Video System includes Axiom, Seachange’s new open video operations service software and a new series of memory-based video servers.

Fully compatible with existing SeaChange installations, the new IP Video Systems are designed for emerging broadband IP video applications that extend beyond the digital television set-top box to support the increasing expansion of video applications.

The system includes the introduction of the new SeaChange Axiom video operations services software (VOSS), which supports the latest IT and digital television standards. Together with the company’s new hybrid MediaCluster servers, it forms a complete system that delivers a range of HD and DTV services over a highly reliable and cost-effective technology platform. These services could include the ingest and delivery of HD video content on-demand, as well as DVDs, scheduled broadcasts, video games, targeted advertising, network DVR and other PC applications.

The Axiom VOSS is an open, comprehensive management platform that automates the control, execution and monitoring of the delivery of system-wide video applications. Like the previous generation Command Center, Axiom is pre-integrated with SeaChange’s MediaCluster video servers, broadband networks and digital set-top boxes.

SeaChange will show the Axiom video operations services software and the Hybrid MediaCluster server at the NCTA National Show (San Francisco, April 3-5) in booth 5874.
