New Hindi satellite news channel launches in April

Dainik Jagran, India's Hindi newspaper group, has chosen an end-to-end Leitch Technology system to support a new satellite Hindi news channel scheduled to launch April 2. The service will reach 20 million homes.

Spanning from ingest through storage, news production, post production and playout, the fully integrated system provides a streamlined workflow for Jagran's news and information channel, Channel 7, which will broadcast from Film City, Noida, on the outskirts of New Delhi.

The newsroom system includes four Leitch NEXIO video servers with 16 146GB drives, six NEXIO NewsFlash NLEs and a NewsFlash Preditor low-resolution browse/editor. The peripheral system includes DPS-575 digital processing synchronizers, 6800+ modular processing products, SuiteView multi-source display processors, Panacea compact routing switchers and a Command Control System (CCS), which provides control and monitoring of the integrated system.

Jagran TV is using the VelocityQ NLE system for offline post production of promos and teasers. The VelocityQ Server Interchange Option, which enables bi-directional push/pull interchange of media files with the NEXIO server system, will also be used.
