NBC streams Nightly News online

NBC began streaming “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” via the Internet Nov. 7 from the its msnbc.com Web site.

The newscast, which included reports on the deadly tornados in Indiana and Ohio, the continuing riots in France, and the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a case on imprisonment and interrogation of Iraqi prisoners, was available at 10 p.m. ET online.

The newscast typically will be the same as the edition aired earlier in the evening, although the delayed stream will allow NBC to cover breaking news during the Web version. Monday’s streaming version included a brief introduction from Williams to set the stage for the new streaming service.

Offering the “NBC Nightly News Netcast with Brian Williams” will allow the network to broaden its audience to viewers who are unable to watch the newscast earlier in the evening.
