Inmarsat type approves Hughes 9201


The Inmarsat BGAN-approved Hughes 9201 supports data rates of up to 492/492Kbps transmit/receive and can be used by up to 11 people at the same time.

The Hughes Network Systems 9201 has received type approval by Inmarsat to operate over the company’s Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN).

The Hughes 9201 enables Inmarsat's end users to perform a diverse range of broadband intensive applications such as sending e-mail, transferring large files and video conferencing. The Hughes 9201 also allows customers to communicate at high data rates while providing critical access to voice and data applications, including Voice over IP (VoIP), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

The Hughes 9201 gives customers the ability to communicate-anywhere, anytime. The Class 1 terminal is capable of supporting:

  • Data rates of up to 492/492Kbps transmit/receive
  • Up to 11 simultaneous users
  • Simultaneous use of all four interfaces: Ethernet, ISDN, USB and WLAN
  • WLAN access point built-in
  • Selectable IP Quality of Service (QoS)
