Dream TV to broadcast two stations from one platform

Egypt’s Dream TV is now broadcasting programming for two channels, Dream 1 and Dream 2, from a shared playout platform.

Dream 1 features videos targeted to younger viewing audiences – sports and variety programs – while Dream 2 produces cultural programs, contemporary videos, films featuring Arab and international actors and several Arabic drama series.

Dream TV is using an Omneon Video Networks Omneon Spectrum media server system to broadcast the two channels from its Nilesat earth station adjoining the Media City complex outside Cairo.

The Omneon Spectrum provides a reliable and scalable infrastructure for broadcast playout and storage applications. Omneon’s server system is built on an open architecture that allows it to support a broad variety of third-party applications for control and transmission, media management, archiving and collaborative production. As a result, stored media can be shared among many users and applications.

The scalable, distributed architecture of the modular Omneon Spectrum server system also offers users flexibility in scaling system components and capacity in small or large increments as desired. The system is available in a broad range of configurations to meet the specific needs of each installation.
