DISH Network launches interactive sports viewing service

Last weekend, DISH Network launched an interactive viewing experience that offers viewers the opportunity watch a game their way by choosing from six different camera angles during select sporting events.

The satellite TV service, which is owned by EchoStar Communications, inaugurated the interactive service Sept. 3 during the Colorado State-Colorado football game. It will broadcast TBS College Football Extra each Saturday through Nov. 5 on its interactive TV channel DISH Home, CH. 100.

This marks the first time a pay-TV service provider has nationally broadcast a sports event in the United States with multiple camera angles and interactive capabilities. DISH Network customers can view any camera angle with full audio or go directly to the full screen channel they select. Angles include high end zone, low end zone, goal post, reverse slash, reverse low end zone and the regular channel 139 TBS network feed.

The new features on DISH Home were developed in partnership with OpenTV using its interactive-TV middleware technology. For more information, visit www.dishnetwork.com.
