Buckeye Cable’s VOD highlights local programming

Buckeye CableSystem in Toledo, Ohio is promoting local programming on its new VOD service.

Earlier this year, SeaChange International provided Buckeye with its video server and software platform—including local content encoders—for Buckeye VOD, a new on-demand service.

Today, movies, events, NFL Network game highlights, children’s programming and free content is already available on Buckeye VOD to more than 42,000 digital homes among the cable operator’s 133,000 subscribers in Toledo and Southeast Michigan. Recently, VOD packages for HBO/Cinemax and STARZ! were launched on an a-la-carte and subscription basis.

Buckeye VOD provides on-demand access to a variety of local programming aired in Toledo. Toledo’s Public Broadcasting Service affiliate WGTE-TV offers several history and entertainment programs through the service Buckeye VOD. Weekly installments of WB affiliate WTWB-TV’s “Garden Guy” are featured in the VOD library with pause, fast-forward and rewind features.

Buckeye VOD’s also offers on-demand local high school sports coverage that is originally produced and aired by Buckeye CableSystem Sports Network (BCSN). Digital subscribers can access 20 events on-demand during the two weeks following the original broadcasts.
