WLAE-TV, the PBS affiliate in New Orleans, has installed a Broadcast Pix 2000 switcher in a mobile production truck being used by the station’s production company, LAE Productions. Broadcast Pix said it was the 200th such system it had delivered. LAE Productions is using the switcher to broadcast local high school football games on the local cable system.
Ron Yager, station manager, WLAE-TV and LAE Productions, said they chose the Broadcast Pix switcher because it was the only one that featured a built-in CG and clip store. This allows LAE to complete a production without having to go through postproduction. The unit is also compact, fitting easily within the new truck.
