Thomson Grass Valley announced new products, expansions and upgrades for NAB2004 a press gathering in New York this week:
The Grass Valley Maestro master control line, which allows users to combine embedded branding and full-featured control capabilities with traditional signal processing components all in the same frame. Maestro is built around GVG's Kameleon Media Processing system and will be available summer, 2004.
More than 40 new modules for Thomson's Kameleon line, including a compact plug-in module that will enable Kameleon modular products and the Grass Valley Trinix digital video router to distribute digital video across multiple miles using fiber-optics. In addition, Grass Valley's ViBE encoding technology will be integrated into the Trinix to enable video distribution over IP networks, which, in combination with other new Trinix capabilities, will allow users to cut signal processing costs by up to 75 percent, according to Thomson.
The U.S. launch of several new versions of Grass Valley's "TV Station in a Kit" product line, which debuted at IBC last fall. The system starts at around $75,000 and features Grass Valley digital cameras, network attached storage (NAS) systems, intelligent video digital recorders (iVDRs), switchers, routers, master control systems, nonlinear editors, news playback systems and modular conversion and distribution products. An HD version of the kit starts at under $370,000 and offers two Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II WorldCam cameras, one Grass Valley Concerto Series router, one Grass Valley Kayak HD digital switcher, one Grass Valley PVS 3000 Profile XP, as well as Grass Valley Kameleon modular products and control panels for the Grass Valley Newton Ethernet-based modular control system. A play-to-air version that starts at under $100,000 supports both SD and HD and includes Grass Valley's new Maestro system, which can be configured with a PVS 3000 Profile XP for SD and HD storage.
A new hybrid-fiber system for the Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II WorldCam camera will support high-bandwidth transmission of HD video up to 4,000 meters over fiber-optic cable, and a new SDI multi-core camera system will provide high performance and flexibility for mid- and small-sized operations.
A 3RU portable 1 M/E high-definition version of Grass Valley's Kayak digital production switcher features an internal four-channel RAM recorder that can function as a high-quality frame synchronizer.
