Telecast to Demonstrate Benefits of Improved Fiber Systems

Telecast Fiber Systems will showcase several additions to its portable and fixed fiber-optic systems for television broadcast production at NAB2007.

The company is introducing its new Telethon Transmitter/Receiver/Teleport System, offering the functionality of its Python II series of transmitters and receivers in combination with the CWDM wavelength management functionality of the company's Teleport system. The new hybrid Telethon accepts both optical and electrical digital signals, from 19.4 Mbps up to 1.5 Gbps uncompressed HD/SDI, and multiplexes them for transmission in either or both directions, with up to 16 optical signals on one fiber, significantly increasing fiber capacity. The Telethon is interoperable with most other Telecast products.

The successor to the Telecast's Adder 162 and 322, the Adder II Series, featuring the Adder II BoothPak provides analog and digital audio-trunking in one convenient box. This new front-of-house/announce booth Adder features factory-configurable modules, and handles analog audio and digital AES audio while converting between them.

Telecast's next-generation G2 CopperHead camera-mounted transceivers is available in and convertible to several configurations including 40-pin SDI, 50-pin HD/SDI, component/composite analog ENG, and digital "cine," through a simple change of input/output mounting "sleds."

Telecast is also debuting its 6000 Series RoHS-compliant Viper II modules, power supplies, and frames. The new modules are designed for analog video, with two or four analog audio channels plus data, SDI/HD-SDI transport, bidirectional SDI/HD-SDI transport, dual-stream HD, and SDI plus dual AES.

The company will also demonstrate an enhanced HDX Unit for its SMPTE Hybrid Elimination Device Cable Elimination System. The popular adapter features a redesigned HDX camera power unit that offers more operational information about camera signal and power status. It offers new options, including optical metering and remote camera power command.

Telecast will be in booth SU10213.
