Symetrix AirTools Voice Processor 2x now shipping

The latest voice processor for the broadcast market, the Symetrix AirTools Voice Processor 2x, is now shipping. The AirTools Voice Processor 2x features two independent channels of low-latency DSP that are customizable from an easy-to-use computer software program. The stock unit includes the processing necessary to make the voices of on-air talent sound rich, articulated and attention-grabbing, and up to 50 custom programs may be saved for instant recall.

The Voice Processor 2x occupies 1RU and interconnects via two mic/line analog inputs, two mic/line analog outputs, two AES digital outputs and a word clock input. Available processing includes compression, EQ, de-essing, downward expansion/gating, high- and low-pass filtering and voice symmetry.

On the software side, an included Windows software application enables complete control of critical parameters and interfaces with the hardware unit via Ethernet. Once a desired sound is dialed in, all settings can be saved as a named preset for later recall, allowing a given studio mic to be optimized for a diverse air staff of male and female voices. Presets may be recalled via front-panel controls, optional hardware remote or a third-party control protocol.
