SRS Labs has announced that the company will unveil a new belt-pack surround sound encoder at NAB2006.
The CSE-06P Portable Circle Surround Encoder is billed as the world's first professional portable encoder engineered specifically for preparation of 5.1 or 6.0 multichannel audio for two track recording.
The device provides a special headphone-monitoring feature that allows users to assess captured 5.1 surround sound mixes with conventional headphones. Monitoring of individual channels is also provided.
The belt-pack encoder will enable users much more freedom and ease in recording surround sound in the field, as it allows conventional two channel audio recording devices such as camcorders and portable recorders to capture surround sound for editing and broadcast purposes.
