SAPEC demonstrates DTV headend
By TVTechnology published
At NAB2008, SAPEC highlighted its SIVAC MTS-1000 video multiplexer, which merged SD and HD programs, in a DTV headend application.
As part of the demonstration, SD programs were encoded with the SIVAC Series 2000 encoders. Series 2000 allows encoding and decoding of up to four video programs in MPEG-2 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 in a single 2RU shelf with redundant power supply units and hot-swappable cards.
The HD program was encoded with the XAVIC XHE, which also can be configured to work at the 4:2:2 profile for contribution links and supports component video or HD-SDI inputs. SAPEC also showed its SIVAC Series 1000 and Series 3000 emulating 4:2:2 contributions over ASI, PDH 34/45Mb/s and IP in multicast.
