Rohde &Schwarz showcases one-stop shop for ATSC mobile TV

At this year's NAB, Rohde & Schwarz is putting the focus on products for the new ATSC Mobile DTV standard with a single-source solution including encoders, multiplexers and transmitters. In addition, R&S will also present an ATSC upgrade package for mobile TV.

Two new R&S mobile TV products will debut at NAB: the R&S AEM100 multiplexer and the R&S SCx8000 transmitter.

The AEM100 multiplexer lets operators upgrade ATSC networks to support the new mobile standard quickly and reliably. The multiplexer is simply integrated into the current system, allowing continued use of existing infrastructure.

The R&S SCx8000 is a cost-efficient solution for setting up and expanding broadcasting and wireless networks. Although it was developed for digital television — especially ATSC mobile, MediaFLO and DVB-H — it is also suitable for analog TV.

Integrated cooling, an integrated splitter and coupler solution and a new redundancy design for the exciter and amplifier all contribute to the transmitter's compact design. The transmitter control unit is built into the exciter to save additional space. The transmitter can be switched from analog to digital transmission as required, and is ideal for transition phases. Because the power output stage comes ready with broadband precorrection for customers' preferred digital standards, the transmitter can be quickly put into operation after delivery.

The new products will be presented at Rohde & Schwarz's NAB Booth C1933.
