Pixelmetrix Introduces DVStation-IP
By TVTechnology published
Pixelmetrix's DVStation, which already supports IP over MPEG, has released a new version that includes IP transport for TV transmission.
The DVStation-IP builds on the MPEG and content analysis ability of its predecessor and targets users transmitting MPEG-2 data over the Internet or other IP networks, including R&D and equipment designers, system test and integration of equipment manufacturers, field trials and operational monitoring.
The MPEG-2 Transport System is a multiplexing technology that allows video, audio, data and interactive content to be transported over a single data connection. The media are inserted into 188-byte MPEG-2 transport packets, which are encoded and sent over wire, RF, ATM or IP.
Pixelmetrix is touting the DVStation-IP as "a viable alternative to telecom leased lines, ATM and satellite circuits."
