Pennsylvania's public stations choose Triveni for data distribution

Triveni Digital announced that the Pennsylvania Public Television Network (PPTN) is deploying the company’s SkyScraper digital content distribution systems at the PPTN network operations center and eight public broadcast stations across the state. The technology will facilitate the launch of new data-driven applications for distance learning, education, training and emergency management.

The system provides a platform for highly efficient point-to-multipoint content distribution and for targeted point-to-point delivery. Public TV stations can use available digital TV bandwidth to generate new revenues and support their public charter.

PPTN reaches 98 percent of the households in Pennsylvania. With the SkyScraper systems, its public television stations can now reach more than 50 percent of U.S. households via DTV bandwidth already available. This provides for a cost-effective solution to emergency broadcasting throughout the country, without the need for additional infrastructure.

The SkyScraper installations at the PPTN stations and the network operations center will be linked through data paths on the commonwealth of Pennsylvania's ATM network, so stations will have the ability to datacast their own local content as well as statewide content and messaging.
