Neutrik convertCON NC3FM-C, male Neutrik will be showing the latest entry in its range of audio connectors at the upcoming San Francisco Audio Engineering Society conference—AES 2008.

The award-winning new connector was first previewed at this year's NAB Show, but had not been officially named. The three-pin XLR-type connector, now known as the "convertCON," is unique in that can mate with both male and female XLR fittings without the need for an adapter.

Neutrik convertCON NC3FM-C, female "Designing and manufacturing a unisex XLR connector was the natural next step for Neutrik," said Jim Cowan, president of Neutrik USA. "convertCON was specifically designed to offer the ultimate in convenience to our consumers. We really try to listen to our consumers' feedback—from the top integrators in the industry to each individual user—a unisex XLR connector was a consistent request that we have brought to reality."

The connector transforms from male to female by merely sliding its housing back and forth.

The AES 2008 show runs from Oct. 2 to Oct. 5 at San Francisco's Moscone Center.
