Neural Audio, VoiceAge release new surround compression scheme
By TVTechnology published
Neural Audio and VoiceAge have released their latest mobile audio compression solution, the Neural-AMR-WB+, upgraded with Neural-THX Surround. Capable of delivering surround-sound content at bit rates lower than 72Kb/s, the Neural-AMR-WB+ with Neural-THX Surround allows next-generation mobile services and devices to deliver surround-sound content at low bit rates and without digital audio coding artifacts.
The Neural-AMR-WB+ with Neural-THX Surround solution enables efficient bandwidth usage for wireless transmission of multimedia content by enabling the encoding and compression of surround content without perceptible artifacts into an audio stream at bit rates lower than 72Kbps. The surround-encoded content can then be played back in stereo through headphones or speakers, or in full surround sound using a Neural-THX Surround home or car entertainment system, depending on the capabilities of the receiving system.
The Neural-AMR-WB+ with Neural-THX Surround solution was showcased at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
