Montreal's Matrox Video Products Group is now shipping software version 2.5 for the Matrox Axio real-time HD and SD editing platforms. The new version adds real-time native editing of MXF files for Panasonic P2, Sony XDCAM, and Sony XDCAM HD, as well as JVC's ProHD HDV 720p format.
The Matrox Axio family of products feature HD and SD finishing in compressed and uncompressed formats, real-time color correction tools, real-time effects, and a full complement of analog and digital audio and video inputs and outputs. It also works with Adobe Production Studio applications, fully supporting Adobe Dynamic Link and providing WYSIWYG video output support for Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop.
Matrox Axio 2.5 also features 4:2:2:4 (YUVA) MPEG-2 I-frame and uncompressed codecs in HD and SD; DVCPRO HD support at all 720p frame rates; real-time mixing of additional formats on the timeline--MXF, AVI, MPEG, HD 1080i in an SD timeline; real-time playback of Adobe native HDV files--.MPEG and .M2T; and improved color correction tools.
"Editors can now use the new tapeless workflows, traditional tape-based workflows, or a mix of both. Axio lets them easily work with whatever formats their clients throw at them," said Ankit Patel, Matrox Axio product manager. "The many other new features in release 2.5 will also increase productivity, letting Axio users do more work in less time."
Matrox Axio release 2.5 can be downloaded from the Matrox Web site free of charge by all registered Matrox Axio users. It supports all three platforms in the Axio family: Axio LE, Axio HD, and Axio SD.
