Iowa Public TV adds SSL C100 HD consoles

Iowa Public TV has acquired two Solid State Logic C100 HD digital broadcast consoles for production, including the shows “Iowa Press” and “Market to Market.”Iowa Public TV expects to go live with the C100s by the end of the year.

One of the new consoles will be used in Iowa Public TV’s control room for live to tape, and the other will be used in its auditorium for recording.

Iowa Public TV was attracted to the console because of its direct interface with ProTools, which will allow engineers to sit at the console rather than at their computers and work with ProTools to create 5.1 surround-sound mixes that support the broadcaster’s conversion to HD, said William Hayes, director of engineering and technology for Iowa Public TV.

The C100 HD installation includes SSL’s MORSE (Modular Resource Sharing Engine) system, which allows the console to access remote mic inputs via fiber from either of the broadcaster’s two studios.
