Heil Sound powers broadcast coverage of Bonnaroo Fest

From June 12-15, the massive Bonnaroo Festival brought 156 music and comedy acts and 80,000 fans to tiny Manchester, TN, about an hour southeast of Nashville. In addition to 18 assorted stages, tents and lounges set up for the artists and fans, festival organizers accommodated approximately 1 million more music fans by constructing the Bonnaroo Radio Broadcast Compound.

The festival broadcast area included five broadcast studios, two production studios and a performance area, all of which were miked with Heil Sound products. A total of 30 radio stations shared the facilities, conducting live interviews and bringing impromptu live performances to fans who couldn’t attend.

Ten Heil PR 40 mics handled the bulk of the broadcast studio interview work. For live performances, a mix of PR 35, PR 30 and PR 20 mics were used to capture vocals and instruments. In all, more than 220 hours of live broadcast were created and sent from the Bonnaroo Radio Broadcast Compound.
