Heil Sound debuts HDK trio of drum mic kits

Heil Sound has premiered three drum microphone kits, the HDK-8 Primo, the HDK-7 and the HDK-5. All feature microphones from the Heil Sound product line as well as several new mics designed specifically for drum kit applications. “Think of it as a greatest hits boxed set with previously unreleased bonus tracks,” said company President Bob Heil. “But instead of C’s, you get top-of-the line drum mics.”

The HDK-8 Primo kit consists of two PR 22s, a flagship mic in the Heil Sound product line that is suited for snare and high hat. Also included are three PR 28s for toms, two PR 38s for overheads and one PR 48 for kick drum. The latter three models are new. In addition, a new tom mount called the HH-1 is included. The HH-1 was developed with input from drummer/producer Hunter Herman, whose initials are referenced in the model number.

The HDK-7 and HDK-5 drum mic kits feature more modest collections drawn from the same family of products. All three versions will be shown at the upcoming NAMM show in Anaheim, Booth 7324.
