ESPN Launches Cell Phone Service

Are you a sports fanatic? If so, there is a new cell phone for you. Mobile ESPN hit the market this week, offering sports fans on-the-go access to real-time personalized sports content.

The phone is available at most Best Buy retail stores and features one-touch access to up-to-the-second sports scores, information, breaking news and statistics; personalized settings for favorite teams and players; audio and video of game highlights, analysis and reporting; and ESPN.com fantasy team management.

"Sports fans can now take ESPN with them wherever, whenever. This is not your average wireless service--this is ESPN in your pocket," said Mobile ESPN's Manish Jha, senior vice president and general manager.

Mobile ESPN uses Sprint's nationwide network for wireless voice and data service and Sprint's high-speed Evolution Data Optimized (EVDO) service. Initially, service will be available on the inaugural Sanyo MVP handset, with additional phones scheduled to launch throughout 2006.

The phone was officially launched Feb. 5, kicking off with a 60-second commercial during Super Bowl XL.
