Triveni Digital's GuideBuilder™ SI Adds EPG Support to Innovative Digital Network Package From Evolution Digital

PRINCETON, N.J. — Nov. 30, 2009 — Triveni Digital, a subsidiary of LG Electronics Inc., has inked a reseller agreement with Evolution Digital, a leading innovator, manufacturer, and supplier of all-digital systems and drop solutions. Evolution is implementing the Triveni Digital GuideBuilder™ SI DVB-SI (DVB System Information) generator within a low-cost DVB-based solution that enables mid-sized and small cable operators to launch all-digital networks affordably. GuideBuilder SI provides critical program information to Evolution's low-cost digital- to-analog converter, which provides the subscriber with a more enhanced channel navigating experience.

"We are committed to providing cable operators of all sizes with a complete digital migration plan, and we've partnered with worldwide leaders in DVB technology to create a complete solution that offers top performance at a fraction of the cost typically borne by North American cable operators," said Brent Smith, president of Evolution Digital. "Triveni Digital is a market leader for PSIP generation in the United States, and the company understands how best to gather and insert scheduling information into our channel navigating interface within the DVB realm. We're pleased to be employing the company's proven technology in a solution we feel will change the landscape of the U.S. cable market."

Evolution's unique offering within the U.S. market integrates the GuideBuilder SI within an end-to-end digital solution, including headend, conditional access, and set-top boxes (STBs), provided with installation, integration, and ongoing technical support services. The system's reliance on the DVB standard enables use of a broader range of competitively priced STB models, which in turn makes it financially feasible for smaller cable operators to make the shift to all-digital networks.

The GuideBuilder SI system generates accurate DVB-SI data and provides an intuitive interface for managing program event information. DVB-SI is the foundation for DVB digital television transport streams and thus is critical for important functions, such as DTV tuners finding the services and programs listed in EPGs. EPG data carried in DVB-SI tables not only provides immediate scheduling information, but also can hold guide data for many days/weeks and, in turn, facilitate automatic recording of programs in PVR devices.

"GuideBuilder SI is deployed overseas at numerous sites, and it's exciting to see this product now supporting the transition to all-digital networks here in the United States," said Ralph Bachofen, vice president of sales and head of marketing at Triveni Digital. "Evolution Digital is the first to offer this market a well-constructed and attractively priced alternative to existing solutions. The majority of cable operators have yet to take the plunge, and with high consumer awareness of the DTV transition, this is a perfect time for them to take advantage of a high-quality plug-and-play system that meets both their performance and budgetary requirements."
