SOUND DEVICES DEBUTS FIRMWARE UPDATE 1.76 FOR 788T AND 788T-SSD DIGITAL RECORDERS

NEW YORK, NY — Sound Devices announces its latest 1.76 Firmware update for its best-selling 788T and 788T-SSD Digital Recorders. This new release includes numerous functional enhancements, including limiter behavior and several important upgrades.

Sound Devices 1.76 firmware makes substantial upgrades to the limiter algorithms of the 788T and 788T-SSD. These changes include new, independent pre-fade and post-fade limiters on inputs as well left/right output limiters. Limiters can be linked for stereo and surround applications or can operate independently. The firmware upgrade also allows for 20:1 limiter ratio options with both hard knee and soft knee curves. To enhance metering, a new Meter Scale menu with zoom mode offers the ability to create, name and save custom meter scales.

“We continue to upgrade our firmware to offer the very best in functionality and features to our customers,” says Jon Tatooles, managing director for Sound Devices. “Our firmware upgrades are available on our Web site, free of charge. This gives our users an effective way to upgrade to the latest technology without having to purchase a new unit.”

Sound Devices 788T Digital Recorder is designed specifically for multi-track, on-location productions and features a significant expansion of input and output capability — eight full-featured microphone inputs and 12 tracks of recording. The expanded inputs, combined with a thoroughly revised digital architecture, provide unprecedented recording flexibility.

Sound Devices 788T-SSD Digital Recorder, a new model of its popular 788T recorder, includes a factory-supplied 256 GB solid-state hard drive, which allows for superior performance in the field. The new model features enhanced data storage and transfer speed while improving its durability to be nearly impervious to shock.

Sound Devices introduced solid-state recording with CompactFlash cards for the 7-Series recorders in 2004 and the feature is available in all Sound Devices 7-Series recorders. The inclusion of an internal 256 GB solid-state drive (SSD) in the 788T-SSD gives it the ability to record over 60 hours of uncompressed, 24-bit, eight-track audio to solid-state medium, providing users with the best in audio quality, durability and extended record time.
