Dublin's Oxegen Festival Brings Music to the Masses with Blackmagic Design's ATEM Production Switcher

Milpitas, CA - August 5, 2011 - Blackmagic Design today announced that Blackmagic Design’s ATEM 1 M/E Production Switcher was used at Ireland’s biggest music festival, Oxegen Festival in Dublin. Since its opening in 2004, Oxegen festival has hosted a variety of top international performances, including The Who’s first appearance in Ireland in more than 35 years. This year’s event saw Beyonce, Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas and Foo Fighters take the main stage, along with hundreds of other artists from around the globe.

Setanta Screens’ AV Manager, John Moriarty, supplier of LED screen technology and audio visual production services to leading event organizers and promoters throughout Europe, purchased the ATEM 1 M/E Production Switcher specifically for Oxegen Festival 2011 in order to broadcast and mix the live stage performance feeds during the three day event. A Blackmagic Design DVI Extender was also used to convert computer generated graphics from DVI to SDI, and Blackmagic Design’s UpDownCross Mini Converters were used to up convert standard definition material to HD SDI.

Moriarty said, “We received the ATEM a few days before the event and I set it up in my living room by connecting to my plasma TV to test the multi viewer. It was very easy to set up and I found my way around the hardware and software quite quickly.”

“Using the software based mixing panel was easy. There was no steep learning curve and having read the manual regarding importing graphics, I found it was simple to use. Our overall decision lied in the fact that it was good value for money, there are a range of inputs and outputs, and the ease of set up and use made all sources synced. We look forward to using more Blackmagic and ATEM products on our upcoming events.”
