Front Porch Digital Awarded Additional U.S. Patents for Archiving Method and Apparatus

LOUISVILLE, Colo. -- July 23, 2007 -- Front Porch Digital, the global leader in content storage management (CSM), announced today that the company has been awarded two additional new patents (#09/839,439; #09/839,355) by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The new patents cover key “methods and apparatus” that are critical to the CSM function within global broadcast facilities.

“These newly awarded patents, along with a patent awarded us in 2005, are vital to our ability to protect the intellectual property behind DIVArchive‘s unique architecture,” said Brian Campanotti, chief technology officer for Front Porch Digital. “While we own patents on this innovative technology, we also maintain a commitment to taking an active role in the SMPTE initiative to create open standards.”

Front Porch Digital is the first and currently the only broadcast archive management vendor to make a public commitment to support a new SMPTE archive management standard. This is an important consideration for broadcasters that place a high value on open standard-compliant technologies. A new standards-compliant DIVArchive will enable easy content migration and sharing between DIVArchive and any other standard-compliant archive management vendors.

DIVArchive from Front Porch Digital is the leading CSM solution for preserving, managing, and accessing content by enabling interoperability between leading industry digital media storage devices, video servers, editing systems, and digital media workflow applications. The system is currently in use at more than 180 installations in more than 45 countries around the world.
