Algolith to Launch First and Only Low Cost Color Temperature Conversion Solution at HD World Booth 1040

Montreal, Quebec (September 30, 2009) — Algolith Inc, a leader in advanced world-class video processing solutions for broadcast, cable, satellite, and IPTV providers, today announced the launch of their newest product, the Algogear Color Temperature Converter, which will be showcased at HD World on October 14th and 15th in New York city, at booth #1040. Visitors to SBE 22 in Verona, NY will be able to preview the product at booth #B5.

“With the number of TV screens and monitors used in Newsrooms today, broadcasters need a cost effective solution that will allow them to display TV and monitor colors properly during live broadcasts,” said Jacques Patry, Director of Product Development at Algolith Inc. “The color conversion applied to the on-set displays will compensate the color temperature of the panel to provide for better studio output picture integration without objectionable color artefacts. The Algogear Color Temperature Converter is the most cost-effective way today for newsrooms to control the color temperature of TV screens and computer monitors to allow proper color calibration and help ensure accurate display of colors to the viewing audience during live broadcasts.”

High-density—4 channel solution provides broadcasters with significant cost savings

Newsroom cameras, which are calibrated according the environment of the newsroom, shoot both the foreground (e.g., a host/news anchor) and the background, which often consists of a number of video and computer monitors. In such cases, the color of foreground usually looks accurate in the television audience’s home. However, many viewers may notice serious color distortions in the video and computer monitors. The monitor colors will look extremely bluish which is caused by the disparity between the color temperatures of the monitors and the studio lighting.

“With Algolith’s Color Temperature Converter, we can have up to 4 channels on a single card. This high density solution is a real money saver in comparison to other solutions available today,” said Patrick Brize, systems integration consultant to rental house Montreal Video. “As a rental house, we are very excited about the further cost savings provided by the reconfigurability of the Algogear card. We can easily and immediately repurpose the card to any other solution from Algolith, extending the card’s life expectancy to tailor it to our future clients’ specific needs. The cost savings are significant for us, especially when it comes to reducing our inventory, including spares. Coupled with the openGear frame—this sets a whole new standard in the industry.”
