Sonnet Offers 10 to 25 Percent Price Reductions on Award-Winning Fusion™ SATA Storage Systems

IRVINE, Calif. — June 27, 2008 — Sonnet Technologies today announced price reductions ranging from 10 to 25 percent for the company's award-winning Fusion™ line of high-performance SATA storage solutions for professional content creation and editing. With the greatest reductions applied to Sonnet's higher-capacity models, price cuts of up to $1,500 give storage system buyers the opportunity to get the maximum storage capacity for their money without compromising quality or performance.

"Demonstrated reliability and performance of our Fusion line have greatly contributed to its success. This in turn has enabled us to make our flagship storage solutions available at lower prices, providing the market with even better access to these popular systems," said Robert Farnsworth, CEO of Sonnet Technologies. "For anybody shopping for a storage solution, the price cuts mean greater flexibility in choosing the solution that meets their specific storage needs. For those seeking an expandable system, we are now offering unique, high-performance, quad interface (eSATA, FireWire® 800, FireWire 400, USB) 4-drive systems at a lower price as well."

Available in 8TB, 6TB, and 4TB configurations, top-of-the-line Fusion D800RAID desktop and R800RAID rackmount 8-drive storage systems are designed for work environments in which performance and fault tolerance are critical. Featuring Sonnet's powerful Intel® processor-based PCIe RAID controller card, Fusion 800RAID storage systems can capture and play uncompressed 10-bit 1080 4:4:4 HD video without dropping frames while simultaneously protecting the data, yet are flexible enough to be configured for any workflow, supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, and 50. The 8TB Fusion D800RAID's price has been reduced from $6,995 to $5,495 for a savings of $1,500, and the rackmount R800RAID model's price has also been reduced by $1,500. The 6TB and 4TB D800RAID/R800RAID models' prices have been cut $1,000 and $500, respectively.

Available in 5TB, 3.7TB, 2.5TB and 0TB configurations, Fusion D500P 5-drive desktop storage systems deliver the speed, reliability, and flexibility required to fit into a variety of workflows. Connected via a single locking eSATA cable to a 4-port Sonnet Tempo™ SATA host controller installed in a Mac or Windows® computer, a Fusion D500P's drives can be accessed through its port multiplier at full speed, whether configured as RAID 0, 1, 10, or JBOD. With its drives configured as a RAID 0 striped set, a single Fusion D500P achieves 240MB/sec sustained transfers, fast enough to capture and play uncompressed 8-bit 720 HD. The 5TB Fusion D500P's price has been reduced by $900 to $2,595, and the 3.7TB and 2.5TB models' prices have been cut by $300 and $100, respectively.

Available in 4TB, 3TB, 2TB, and 0TB configurations, Fusion D400Q desktop and Fusion R400Q rackmount 4-drive SATA storage systems with quad interface can play 10-bit 720 HD video without dropping frames, yet are equally adept hosting daily backups. Featuring eSATA (for maximum performance) and FireWire® 800, FireWire 400, and USB 2.0 (for maximum compatibility) interfaces and a high-performance SATA II port multiplier, Fusion 400Q systems deliver single-cable-to-host connectivity and broad compatibility. Connected via a single locking eSATA cable to a 4-port Sonnet Tempo™ SATA host controller installed in a Mac or Windows computer, a single Fusion 400Q storage system with its drives configured as a RAID 0 striped set achieves 220MB/sec sustained transfers, fast enough to support multiple streams of DV, HDV, DVCPRO, or Apple ProRes 422 video. Prices on Fusion D400Q and R400Q systems with drives have been reduced by as much as $800, and Sonnet is now selling D400Q and R400Q systems without drives for $699.95, each.
