World‘s Fastest HD H.264 Flash® - HaiVision and Wowza team towards Live Content Delivery
March 26, 2008 - HaiVision Systems Inc. (Montreal, Canada), the world‘s leading vendor of performance H.264 network video encoders, and Wowza Media Systems, an emerging leader in streaming media server software, have cooperated to integrate HaiVision‘s MAKO-HD “zero latency” high definition H.264 encoder with the award-winning Wowza Media Server™ Pro platform to deliver the world‘s fastest live Flash® HD H.264 content delivery.
HaiVision‘s MAKO-HD encoding platform delivers industry standard H.264 high-definition video with an astonishing 70 milliseconds of latency. The MAKO-HD supports 720p, 1080i, and 1080p at bit rates from 256 kbps to 10 Mbps. Wowza Media Server Pro, with is exclusive capability to support RTP-based encoders, redistributes the high-definition video stream into the RTMP-based Flash environment with minimal additional latency. End-to-end latency using this infrastructure can be as low as 400 milliseconds.
“The development is dramatic in that it shows the ubiquity of H.264-based video. HaiVision‘s low latency systems are used extensively for interactive broadcast and telepresence systems,” explains Peter Maag, HaiVision‘s VP of Marketing. “Now our clients can seamlessly incorporate large scale Flash distribution without the pain of re-encoding. Broadcasters can take advantage low latency live content delivery for time-critical live events such as sports, news, and election coverage.”
“In supporting H.264 video, Wowza Pro takes full advantage of standards-based, performance-oriented encoder appliances such as HaiVision‘s MAKO-HD,” said David Stubenvoll, CEO & Co-Founder, Wowza Media Systems. “The development completely opens up the content delivery market to easy integration of live event streaming.”
HaiVision‘s H.264 codecs (including the hai1000 with MAKO-HD technology and the standard definition TASMAN) are compatible with low-cost set top boxes, video conferencing endpoints, soft players including HaiVision‘s haiPLAY and Apple‘s QuickTime, and now the ubiquitous Flash media environment.
Plan to see the Fastest Flash using MAKO-HD and Wowza Media Server at NAB: HaiVision booth SU11626 and Wowza booth C552.
