NUCOMM TECHNOLOGY HELPS SMOKE OUT TOBACCO USE FOR NATIONAL TRUTH® TELEVISION CAMPAIGN

Manhattan, NY, February 7, 2008 - The nation‘s largest youth-focused anti-tobacco education campaign, Truth®, is marching on through the New Year thanks to end-to-end HD camera equipment provider, and its supply of Nucomm microwave equipment. A combination of five Nucomm CamPac 2 HD/SD COFDM camera-back transmitters and five Nucomm Newscaster DR HD/SD COFDM microwave receivers were used during production of five of the hard-hitting television advertisements that are designed to engage teens by exposing Big Tobacco's marketing and manufacturing practices and illustrating the consequences of tobacco use.

“The production presented both difficult and interesting production obstacles as we were not working within a studio, but rather outdoors and changing locations daily,” explains D‘Angelo. “On top of this, each location required multi-channel wireless transmission in Manhattan, the largest broadcast market in the country, which always presents concern for frequency band congestion and allocation. In using Nucomm‘s CamPac 2s and Newscaster diversity receivers, we were able to establish a highly robust and flexible system that proved efficient on all counts regardless of our location.”

With Nucomm equipment being used for the first time during production of the Truth® commercials, D‘Angelo adds, “In the past, the production team had mixed feelings regarding quality and ease of use regarding previously employed transmission systems. However, with Nucomm the set-ups were quick and the signal strong under adverse conditions. Use of the CamPac 2 and Newscaster DR systems resulted in production being able to concentrate on the creative instead of technical problems. With NuComm, there were never any fires in need of being put out.”
