‘Taken’ Tops Blu-ray Sales

The latest young-girl-in-peril thriller, “Taken,” topped off the latest Top 10 Blu-ray sales chart—leading an eclectic string of other 1080p disc bestsellers that includes cartoons, PlayStation 3 content, an Italian Western more than 40 years old, James Bond, Batman, Brad Pitt, and a multi-disc set of the original “Star Trek” movies based on the original TV series that carries MSRP of about $140.

And once again as in recent weeks, half of the 10 titles are owned or shared by 20th Century Fox. The Top 10 Blu-ray titles sales for the week ending May 16, according to Rentrak:

7. “Seth McFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy” (20th Century Fox)
8. “S. Darko: A Donnie Darko Tale” (20th Century Fox)
9. “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” (MGM/20th Century Fox)
10. “Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection” (Paramount)
