For-A HD/SD Switcher, Frame Synchronizer Selected for Telenovelas

Video and audio systems manufacturer For-A Corp. has announced the sale of a Hanabi HVS-500HS switcher and FA-9000 signal processor to RCN-TV, a Colombian broadcaster and producer of telenovela, "Ugly Betty." Both units were recently installed in RCN-TV's mobile production truck.

For-A said that the FA-9000 frame synchronizer in RCN-TV's production truck lets crews synchronize all cameras and video tape recorders used on the set. The compact 1 RU unit features an upconverter, downconverter, color corrector, median-based noise reduction technology, a logo generator, and a Dolby-E decoder.

The FA-9000 supports input and output formats for digital signals such as HD-SDI and SD-SDI, analog component (HD and SD), and analog composite. A Dolby-E decoder can be installed for accurate monitoring and signal correction for surround sound signals in a multi-channel audio environment.

The HVS-500HS switcher has 10-bit, 4:2:2 internal processing. Input/output interfaces include: HD/SD SDI, HD/SD Analog, VGA and HDV/DV. It can connect to HDV cameras or PCs. HVS-500HS is multiformat in HD for 1080/60i, 50i, 720/60p and is switchable from NTSC to PAL. The standard switcher has four HD/SD SDI inputs, two PGM outputs and three AUX outputs.
