Fischer Connectors Tapped for Olympics Coverage

The TV Production Center of Zurich (TPC) is outfitting its mobile production unit with Fischer Connectors' new 1053 fiber-optic HDTV broadcast camera connectors to cover the 2006 Winter Olympics.

The production vehicle, which will be used to televise the Olympic alpine downhill and Super-G skiing competitions in Torino, features vision mixers, LMD series monitors, as well as 24 Sony HD cameras and CCUs. It is also equipped with 10m-by-100m cables (Fischer SE 1053/KE 1053 cable mounted plug and receptacle terminations), 12m-by-200m cables (Fischer SE 1053/KE 1053 cable mounted plug and receptacle terminations) and 15 internal links.

According to Atlanta-based Fischer Connectors, its new technology makes it both practical and economical to field-assemble and repair HDTV camera connectors with simple mechanical tools anywhere. On-site terminations can be made in less than 30 minutes.
