MSTV to Hold Annual DTV Update

The Association for Maximum Service Television (MSTV) will be holding its 15th annual DTV Update on Wednesday, Feb. 13 in Washington, DC.

The annual event is usually held in the fall, but was cancelled in 2001 after the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington. The conference gives industry executives and pundits alike the opportunity to assess the DTV transition and speculate about its future.

The all-day event will include panel discussions from the FCC's Digital TV Task Force, which will provide a progress report on the transition. A discussion on technological improvements to the VSB modulation standard, cable and interoperability standards and other new technologies will include representatives from the ATSC, NAB and Zenith Electronics.

The luncheon will be keynoted by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), chairman of the House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet. Afternoon panels will include a panel discussion on DTV modeled after the popular game show "The Weakest Link," and Congressional and FCC staff members will discuss regulatory issues that could affect the transition.

The event will be held from 9-3:30 p.m. in the Atrium Ballroom at the Ronald Reagan Building. For more information, contact MSTV at 202-861-0344.
