(November 3, 2003) New York, NY--DIRECTV has purchased MaxView network control software from ILC for use in monitoring equipment at the uplink facilities for its new channels. The DBS provider has expanded its local channel services and now offers local channels in 64 metropolitan TV markets. It is building new uplink facilities and plans to further expand that list to 105 local channel markets by early next year.
At the new uplink facilities, in Winchester, VA and Oakdale, MN, and at the Castle Rock Broadcast Center in Colorado, DIRECTV will use MaxView to monitor and control its new uplink RF chains, uplink antenna systems and uplink signal monitor systems.
“Our continued growth and local channel initiative makes it imperative that we can integrate new broadcast or uplink facilities into the management and control system without disrupting service,” said Dave Baylor, executive vice president, DIRECTV. “MaxView will allow us to continue our expansion in a controlled and efficient manner.”
