AZCAR Designing Turner HDTV Facilities
October 8, 2003
(October 8, 2003) Markham, Ontario-AZCAR Technologies has been awarded a contract by Turner Entertainment Networks (TEN) to complete design studies and engineering documentation for the creation of an HDTV network originating from the TEN Headquarters in Atlanta. AZCAR completed the conceptual and detailed design of the facility in 1999-2001, which now originates all Turner Entertainment Networks (Cartoon, Boomerang, Turner Classic Movies, TBS Superstation, Turner South, TNT, including overseas networks for Latin America), as well as WTBS. The highly automated facility is based on video servers for all program and commercial playback.
"This contract and the related work reflect the need to provide the specialized facilities to accommodate the increasing interest in, and demand for, HDTV programming in the U.S. market," said Stephen Pumple, president and CEO of AZCAR.
The new contract will be completed in the fourth quarter of this year and will provide the basis for further extension of TEN programming initiatives in HDTV for US distribution. Implementation is expected to be complete in the first half of 2004.
