SSL highlights recent Asia-Pacific region success

At IBC2007, Solid State Logic announced its continued growth in console sales across the Asia-Pacific region.

A significant agreement has been reached between SSL and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) for the delivery of SSL music production and broadcast consoles on a schedule stretching through July 31, 2013. The supply contract began in August, following a comprehensive tender evaluation process by the broadcaster.

The C100 is a digital broadcast console that offers simultaneous signal paths for 5.1 surround, stereo and mono signals that supports up to 128 input channels. State broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) recently purchased two C100 consoles. The console features 80 mix busses for the talent, communication and production area mixes that have become a standard requirement in program creation.

In Japan, Magnax Production has purchased a C200, a classic in-line console that is proving to be as much of a success for live entertainment broadcasts as it is for music production. The digital C200 provides the latest adaptation of SSL’s popular in-line console heritage with a dedicated knob-per-function control surface. The C200 is suited for creative mixing applications such as music or entertainment, where hands-on access to a large number of controls is essential.

Sales of the C300 digital production console into the notoriously exacting post-production industry have also grown. Two highly regarded Japanese post facilities, DiMagic and P’Studio Post Production, have purchased consoles. Meanwhile, Korea’s Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation has acquired three C300s. The C300 is a fully configurable, multioperator digital console that offers up to 512 mix inputs from a single core, flexible DSP that allows reconfiguration without a reboot, and simultaneous multiformat mixing via 80 mix busses that can be grouped to handle audio formats up to 7.1 surround.

The first client to order Duality, the large format analogue console with redundant power supply, is KBS, the Korean Broadcast Service. Duality is a 72-channel console with an internal patch option designed for high-end music mixing. KBS has also ordered its second C100 HD console for live broadcasts.
