Digidesign reaches milestone sales figure

Digidesign has announced that sales of its Icon D-Control and Icon D-Command digital consoles have surpassed 1000 units worldwide. The Pro Tools HD-driven Icon consoles began shipping in 2004, with applications in music, broadcast and postproduction.

The milestone unit, a 48-fader dual-operator D-Control, was sold to Walt Disney Pictures and Television for installation on the dub stage used to mix the hit television show “Lost.” The decision to switch over to the Digidesign Icon system was made by Gil Gagnon, VP of post production services for Walt Disney Pictures and TV, who notes that the unit in question is actually one of three Icon upgrades at Disney stages, which also include both a 48-fader and 24-fader Icon D-Command system.
