Zoic Studios Garners Emmy Nod

Los Angeles, CA--Visual effects house Zoic Studios has received an Emmy nomination for the category of Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Special for its work on the Battlestar Galactica miniseries.
With more than 400 shots to complete, the Zoic team worked for seven months utilizing Lightwave and combustion to create CG Cylons, Centurions, Vipers, and virtual environments. The result is a show where effects were a key storytelling device and an exciting way of transporting audiences into the world of Battlestar Galactica. For many, this was the opportunity for which they have been waiting decades. Others experienced this world for the first time with fresh eyes and ears. The result was a popular miniseries that will premiere as a series in January 2005, with Zoic Studios as the effects team.
"We are thrilled to be nominated for a new version of a show that inspired all of us to get into the business in the first place," said digital effects supervisor Emile Edwin Smith.
