WTVF Taps VCI for Satellite Automation

WTVF, the Nashville, Tenn. CBS affiliate, is using VCI Automation autoXe automation system to control its CompuSat satellite system.

autoXe is being used to control WTVF’s satellite receivers, which has provided a significant ROI for the station, VCI said. The station’s CompuSat satellite system and attendant interface are integrated as a client on the network, giving WTVF complete control of their satellite feeds through autoXe. The automation system reduces multiple data sources to one source in an integrated system, eliminating conflicts and the need for data re-entry, saving time and reducing the likelihood of human error. When changes are made, they are automatically updated throughout the system. WTVF is also using autoXe to automate content ingest from its Pathfire system.

“We were looking for a way to simplify the control of our satellite receivers and integrate them with our existing Master Control automation,” said Gibson Prichard, WTVF chief engineer. “CompuSat and autoXe together have simplified feed recordings and made our operation run smoother. Now all our programs, from Pathfire to traditional satellite feeds, are ingested automatically into autoXe.”
