WISC-TV Debuts ESP: LIVE During Tornado
By TVTechnology published
WISC-TV used Weather Central's ESP:Live Exclusive Storm Prediction, during the recent spate of tornadoes in Wisconsin that killed one person and destroyed 15 homes.
Branded Doppler 3000 Interactive, the system features 3D X-Vision and Velocity Scope to help provide the station's live coverage. The WISC news team, including chief meteorologist, Gary Canalte, were able to warn viewers earlier about the tornado rotations, according to Weather Central. Using this tool, meteorologists can identify areas of rotations inside the storm, which warns about a potential tornado.
"We received many calls from viewers thanking use for pinpointing the location of the tornadoes and providing such clear and comprehensive coverage," said Joel Bernell, assistant news director, WISC-TV.
