European production company WIGE Media is adding 30 more Link Research systems to its inventory of microwave equipment used in the production of the German Touring Car Series.
At IBC2007, Link Research displayed a racecar fully rigged with LinkXP wireless cameras for the German Touring Car Masters series (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters or DTM). The car showed the HD wireless links and fiber.
WIGE is using Link’s latest cellular diversity technology in its live race coverage, and in its move to HD.
DTM cars are fitted with two onboard wireless cameras. The signals from these are multiplexed together and sent via Link’s fiber-optic interface units to a cellular diversity network of receive points placed around the track.
Each receive point has two diversity antennas and is connected to the OB truck by fiber. Link’s fiber-optic interface units are used so that the antennas and downconverters can be located farther away from the OB site.
WIGE is using Link’s LMS-T modulation system, which relies on advanced LDPC error correction and interleaving.
