Wexler Video adopts Colledia from BBC Technology

BBC Technology, provider of products and services to media organizations, has sold its Colledia system to Wexler Video, an equipment and services provider to the Hollywood production and post-production community.

Wexler rents equipment to producers responsible for creating prime-time reality TV programming and will provide its Colledia production workflow software for content digitization and program making.

Colledia is designed to help producers streamline their workflows by enabling collaboration across the media lifecycle, from ingest to edit and playout. Colledia for production also supports open standards and is designed to service a range of applications, for small, economically staffed teams to large-scale global production departments.

“Colledia for production essentially replaces the physical management of videotapes in the workflow and incorporates on a computer network platform the tools our customers need for logging, viewing, storing and securely sharing content,” said Chris Thompson, president of Wexler Video.

With Colledia, dailies and archive material are digitized once and once only. Metadata captured upstream is retained throughout the production process and beyond. Production teams are able to search and view material directly from their desktop. And, all of this happens without the inherent limitations of tape-based operations.
