WDBD-TV Taps Harris Nexio for HD Storage

WDBD-TV, the Fox affiliate in Jackson, Miss., said it has merged into a disc archive storage scheme with the Nexio NXIQ 6000i clustered storage unit from Harris Corp.

JW Broadcasting-owned WDBD-TV, along with a couple of sister stations, plans to archive its entire library within the Nexio system, which Harris said will afford faster read/write transfer times, better content protection, and an expansion capability of more than 775 TB of “clustered storage” in a single file system.

The three stations’ deployment of 6000i storage unit will work in tandem with already-existing Harris transmission servers. According to Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast, “WDBD is a great example of a small-market station [Nielsen DMA no. 90] embracing leading-edge technology.”
