Verizon’s FiOS to Carry Nexstar TV Stations

Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc. has entered into a multiyear agreement with Verizon for retransmission of all Nexstar stations that are located within Verizon FiOS television service markets.

“This agreement with Verizon extends our track record of successful retransmission negotiations and validates the strength of our local broadcast programming,” said Perry A. Sook, Nexstar chairman, president and chief executive officer. “We believe that this agreement means greater choice for viewers and reflects the evolving importance of locally produced video content to platform distributors. We continue to evaluate additional opportunities to derive value from our content with other new and emerging technologies and will pursue those that are in the best interest of our viewers and shareholders.”

Nexstar owns, operates, programs, or provides sales and other services to 49 television stations located in 29 U.S. markets, and reaches more than 8 percent of U.S. television households.

As of March this year, Verizon FiOS TV service had the potential to reach 3.1 million households in 10 states.
