Universidad Iberoamericana Summons TV Magic for New Facilities

The back of the Broadcast Pix switcher at CECAM
The new Center for Audiovisual Communication and Multimedia (Centro de Comunicación Audiovisual y Multimedia, or CECAM) at Mexico's Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA Tijuana) has new studio and post facilities, serving as a teaching and training tool for UIA Tijuana film and television production students.

The systems include six Canon SD cameras, a Broadcast Pix switcher, four Apple workstations, ARRI and Kino Flo lighting, Sony and JVC VTRs and a Yamaha audio mixer.

To get the systems in place, the university enlisted the services of San-Diego-based integrator TV Magic.

"Our goal is to foster a space in which students can create multimedia projects using cutting-edge tools and equipment, and TV Magic's expertise helped us make this idea a reality," said Marta Marquez, manager of the Communications Department at UIA Tijuana. "TV Magic understood our needs and provided insight into the best solutions for the CECAM. Furthermore, the company's training and support of newly hired staff has been critical to our ability to provide students with education that prepares them for the professional broadcast market."

Integrated to support production from end to end, the new systems within the CECAM simplify production for UIA Tijuana students and provide a solid foundation for later work in broadcast stations and other media organizations. Among the programs created at the CECAM is "Caldero TV," which has been produced by UIA Tijuana students for more than a decade and is distributed on cable channel 21 for Sintesis TV in Baja California, Tijuana, Ensenada and Mexicali.
