BSkyB said it's ramping up its HD content faster than it had anticipated. The satellite service will soon be providing nearly all its movie content from the major studios in HD, and nearly all its commissioned programs and two-thirds of its prime time schedule on its Sky One channel will be in HD.
The DBS firm's latest HD movie licensing agreement with Warner Brothers will include such films as "Syriana," "V for Vendetta" and "Firewall," according to Broadband TV News.
Sky Movies HD, one of several HD channels on the satellite service, plans to air several relatively new titles in coming months. The Sky One HD channel will also provide TV content in HD, including such American series as "24" and "Lost."
On tap for another HD venue, Sky Sports HD, is the Royal International Horse Show and various soccer and cricket matches, and the BBC's HD channel (currently in testing mode) this summer will include Wimbledon 2007 tennis and the "Concert for Diana," a tribute to the late princess who died 10 years ago in August.
