Ulster Television chooses IBIS for commercial playout
By TVTechnology published
Ulster Television (UTV) in Belfast has chosen IBIS applications to control their commercial airtime output. IBIS is supplying a suite of applications to handle the acquisition, media asset management and playout of commercials, promotions and other video material.
Omneon video servers will work in conjunction with IBIS products to control UTV's commercial airtime output.
IBIS ServerLoad will control the ingest of commercials from tape to one of three Omneon video servers. One video server is designed for use as the core ingest server and for playout of program material. The other two Omneon servers are fully mirrored for transmission of promotions, commercials and station IDs.
Central to the media asset management of the system is the IBIS Asset Core which will handle the mirroring of commercials from one Omneon server to a back up server for redundant playout. IBIS ServerBase forms an integral part of the Asset Core, allowing UTV to manage the contents of their servers. IBIS ServerPlay handles the playout of commercials from two ports of the server.
