Two Batman Films Continue in Blu-ray Top 10

Last summer's theater blockbuster "The Dark Knight" retained the top slot among both standard DVD and Blu-ray title sales in the latest data available from Rentrak. While "Dark Knight" holds the current record for Blu-ray sales, it is the sequel to "Batman Begins," which also continues doing relatively good business in the Blu-ray Top 10. (Both Batman titles sell far better in the standard DVD format, which still dominates overall video disc sales by an estimated 5-to-1 margin.)

A new entry, the ABBA-based musical "Mama Mia!" came in a respectable third.

For the week ending Dec. 20, the top 10 Blu-ray sales included:

  • 1. "The Dark Knight" (Warner Bro.)
  • 2. "The Mummy: Tomb of the Emperor Dragon" (Universal)
  • 3. "Mamma Mia!" (Universal)
  • 4. "Wanted" (Universal)
  • 5. "Hancock" (Sony)
  • 6. "Wall-E" (Disney)
  • 7. "Iron Man" (Paramount)
  • 8. "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" (Disney)
  • 9. "Batman Begins" (Warner Bro.)
  • 10. "Step Brothers" (Sony)
